Year 5 Home Learning Guidance
(for those who are currently self-isolating or absent)
Please find below general resources to support your child if they are home learning. These resources are in addition to the work that is being set daily by their class teacher on their Google Classroom.
To access Google Classroom, your child should log in via the app of the following website: https://classroom.google.com using their Wenlock Junior email address. If you or your child are unsure of your child’s email address, please contact your child’s class teacher who will be able to remind you of the details. Your child will not need a code to access their classroom as each individual account has been linked to the children’s school Google accounts.
Once logged in, the links to the following class’ classrooms are:

All children in the school have access to their own SumDog account. This platform is currently used for weekly Maths homework which will continue this year. We also have access to Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation activities on here through fun, interactive games. Your child’s log in details will be the same as their Accelerated Reader and MyON log in details to avoid confusion.
School Code: wenlockcofe
At Wenlock, we use the REN Learning Platform to assess the children’s current reading level and the progress that they are making. During this time, we will be allowing children to continue to take their book quizzes at home using the Accelerated Reader platform on this website. Even if your child is well and in school, please encourage them to continue to quiz at home as regularly as possible and as soon as they have finished reading their current book.
Please note, the children should not be accessing or taking the STAR Reader tests at home and will be able to access these without the teacher’s password.
The school has its own unique web address. Your child will only be able to log in using this web address:
Set aside 10 to 15 minutes each day to read with your child. It will make all the difference! This can be done using books from school (within the child's ZPD bracket) and also on myON.co.uk. Pupils can also quiz on any book that they finish reading from home using the myON.co.uk or Accelerated Reader.
The school has a current subscription to the Discovery Education Espresso Platform. This can be used for any topic that the children are studying in school across any subject. The website is full of videos, articles, worksheets and much more.
Times Tables Rock Stars
Each child has their own log in to the school's Times Tables Rock Stars subscription. This should be used to help the children continue to learn and practice their times tables knowledge. They can also use this platform to play against each other. Each child has their own individual login which has remained the same since Year 3 and 4.
Oak National Academy
The DfE has worked with a number of outstanding teachers across the country to produce high quality lesson plans for children who are isolating at home via the Oak National Academy. This is completely free and available for all to use.
AR Book Finder
You can check that books your child is reading at home are on the AR quiz scheme at:
Use your child’s login to access and take quizzes like they would at school once they have finished reading a book.
