Wenlock C of E Junior School

Religious Education

Religious education at Wenlock encourages children to ask about the meaning of life from beginning to end. It is an opportunity for the children to reflect on their personal views; to explore Christianity and other major religions with a view to considering how religion can affect an individual and to consider the impact of religions on world affairs. RE allows gives opportunities for the children to consider the social injustices and suffering of others and opens up a vision of how the world could be for all its citizens.

At Wenlock RE is taught through discussion, debates, Philosophy for Children learning and questioning. Each term the children answer a Big Question related to the topic they are learning. All RE teaching is inclusive as every opinion is valid – the children are encouraged to justify their opinions and develop an enquiring mind.
